Saint Challenge Response #1: St. Philomena

This reflection on St. Philomena comes from  my friend Jake:

"St. Philomena inspires me for lots of reasons. Her story is incredible! While only 13 years old she stood up to the head of the Roman Empire for the sake of her purity which she promised to Jesus, and she did so with such simplicity. Her firm resolve and joyful acceptance of suffering are gifts I pray for. Also, she's teaching me how to have relationships with the Communion of Saints."

To the question of what makes up a saint:

"Being conformed to the Heart of Jesus, especially by means of devotion to the Heart of His Mother makes someone a saint!"

Thanks Jake for being the first to respond to the challenge!  Throughout this month, I'm hoping that this can show how the saints really matter in our own lives.  So share who inspires you and what sainthood means to you.  Blessings upon all this day!
